Time: 6:30 PM EST
Teams: Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots
Stadium: University of Phoenix Stadium – Glendale, Arizona
Final score: 28–24
Coach: Pete Carroll

The Seahawks started the 2014 season by floundering and had only managed a 3–3 record by the season’s midpoint. However, the team’s superb defense saw them win 9 f their last 10 games in the regular season and finished with a 12–4 record to earn a spot at the Super Bowl as the NFC champions.  Just like the Seahawks, the New England Patriots started the season on a low and recorded their worst defeat yet (41–14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs) in the fourth week. However, they recovered in week five and proceeded to win seven consecutive games before finishing the season with a 12–4 record (top seed at the AFC).  This entry to the Super Bowl marked the team’s 8th appearance.

The game was undoubtedly one of the most competitive and entertaining. By halftime, the teams were tied 14-14 but the Seahawks managed to create a 10-point lead in the third quarter. The Patriots fought back and took a 28-24 lead with just about 2 minutes left. In the dying moments of the game, Patriots’ Malcolm Butler made a very crucial interception that denied the Seahawks the wining points. The game ended 28-24 in favor of the Patriots.
