History Of Seattle Seahawks NFC Championship

There is no doubt that the NFC Championship presents us with some of most competitive games in football. So when the playoffs begin I always watch with great anticipation. Whether your team is going to win or not it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day. The mere fact that your team qualified is no mean achievement. Therefore, It is a fact that the Seattle Seahawks have been successful on their appearance in the championship. Let’s see some of their memorable Seattle Seahawks NFC Championship games.

2005 (XL): Seattle Seahawks vs Carolina Panthers

The Seahawks continuously made it to the playoffs between 2003 and 2007. To add spice to their achievement, they won the NFC Championship in the 2005-2006 season. The game that was played on January 22, 2006, could have been the most significant game at that time. The NFC Championship was highly competitive and loved by both the teams and fans. The game was played in Landover, Md and the Seahawks beat the Panthers 34-14. The Panthers was their 11th season in the NFL and last time they participated in the playoffs was in 2003.

Going back, I can see that the Seahawks really dominated the game. They led the Panthers 20-7 at halftime and 34-7 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks stamped their authority in the game with a 53-yard drive that ensured Alexander accomplish his second touchdown. Despite a pass from Jake Delhomme to receiver Drew Carter who managed a 47-yard touchdown reducing the arrears to 34-14, the game was all but over with five minutes of play remaining.

2013 (XLVIII): Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers

The Seahawks probably can claim the 2013 season as one of their most memorable ones. They recorded 13-3 wins and went on to claim the NFC West Division title. Even better they had a play-off first round bye. The NFC Championship match held at Century Link Field and the Seahawks came out victorious with a 23-17. Marshal Lynch was at it again getting 135 yards and three touchdowns. The first half that saw only 5 total points was possibly the entertaining part of the match. In what looked like defensive strategies from both teams that changed in the fourth quarter when Seattle dominated. It seems the Seahawks had read the game correctly and it paid by being more offensive.

2014 (XLIX): Seattle Seahawks vs Green Bay Packers

The rivalry between the Seahawks and the Packers is a strange one. They are both good teams fighting for the number one position in the NFC and this makes it interesting. I always eagerly wait to see who will be at the top when the series commence. Both teams being constant participants in the NFC Championship, let’s go back and revisit the memorable game on 19 January 2014. The Seahawks pounced on the Packers and won the game by 28-12. the closely contested match will go down the memory line as Wilson threw a pass to Jermaine Kearse to get a touch down right in the overtime. This meant the painful defeat for the Packers.

The NFC Championships have proven that each team brings out the best to win the playoffs. The anticipation and excitement that it brings to the fans and all other stakeholders is something to look for.
